Vinnitsa National Medical University

One of the oldest and highly reputed higher institutions for medical studies in Ukraine and erstwhile USSR, is Vinnitsa National Medical University.

Founded in 1921, all the educational programs of the university are approved and regulated by the ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the ministry of health of Ukraine. The Ministry of health of Ukraine and ministry of Foreign Affairs ofUkraine legalize the degrees and diplomas issued to international students by the Vinnitsa National Medical University.

Vinnitsa National Medical University was founded in 1921. It was given the status of university in 1994 when it was certified and accredited by the IV level of Accredition.

Also known as National Pirogov Memorial Medical University or simply Vinnitsa National Pirogov Memorial Medical University , it has been making medical practioners since 1921 creating more than 44 thousand medical specialists working in Ukraine and world over. It has become a landmark for imparting value based education in terms of its pedagogy for years now.

It is one of the few medical universities in Ukraine that has been conferred the status of National Medical University by the Government of Ukraine.

Students of VNMU as it popularly known are eligible to apply license and certification in more than 150 countries in the world including USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, India and more.

Indian Students passing out from VNMU are eligible to sit for NBE ie the National Board of Examination and also to register with the Medical Council of India ie MCI after obtaining an eligibility certificate from MCI for appearing for the test conducted by the NBE in full compliance with the guidelines of the certification authority.

It has 3 academic buildings with 12 academic schools with state of the art infrastructure for medical education with fully equipped medical research centre and a Novel Information technology centre for medicine. It helps to maintain links and collaborate with medical faculties of Universities in 19 other countries and has close links with the clinical departments of 28 foreign Pharmaceutical firms. The teachers of the medical department are involved in the implementation of more than 62 international projects. The library is equipped with more than half a million books thus boasting of a complete knowledge centre present on campus

Structural Divisions:

There are 6 faculties with 55 departments which includes 39 clinical departments and 16 theoretical departments.

There is a self financing preparatory courses.

It also has a Center of New Information Technologies fully equipped with computer classrooms, TV studio, Printing house, Office for Computer printing and internet unit.

There is a scientific research center with 7 research labs and vivarium which is the experimental clinic.

VNMU creates more than 6000 students every year of which more than 2000 are international students hailing from Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. The Management of Foreign Students at VNMUis taken care of by the Department for International Links in collaboration with the Dean’s office of the Preparatory Faculty and that of UG and PG International Student involvement as well.

Medical Program Description:

Faculty of General Medicine – Undergraduate MBBS/MD (Physician) Course

Duration – 6 years

Students are trained in both the fundamental subjects discipline as well as special medical subjects all through the duration of the 6 year course. Clinical Studies are conducted from the 2nd year onwards where they can gain experience in nursing the patients. The main mode of instruction is in English and Russian Language.

The medical Pedagogy consists of 2 important stages:

  • a)Testing practical proficiency of final year students (when exams on clinical disciplines are taken.)
  • b)Testing practical/theoretical proficiency

The successful students are awarded the medical degrees post the completion of 6 years rigorous training after passing the state exams. Students can then choose from a wide range of specializations both in public and private sectors, involving research, academic, clinical medicine andother areas. Specialties include caridiology, oncology, Pediatrics, Surgery, Pathology, Public Health, General Practices and many others.

Medical Internship:

Students at VNMU perform 1 year of clinical rotations in subjects like internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, gynecology etc and other additive subjects during their final year of education.

Ukrainian Medical council issues the certificate for the same with Abroad Advice helping its students to obtain the same.

The internship certificate confirms the status of student as a complete doctor once he has completedthe curriculum and the same is accepted everywhere in the world except India.

For India the student needs to complete a screening test and go through a compulsory rotary internship before the student is registered permanently with the Medical Council of India.
