Campus Facilities

The campus of medical college of Washington University of Barbados is located on a beautiful island among the group of Caribbean Island in the Central America.
WUB is one of the Medical Colleges which has an amazing and eco-friendly campus enclosed with a fabulous green gallery provides well-furnished and comfortable hostels separated for students.
The campus of WUB is well-developed with modern technologies.
The Faculty at WUB utilizes well equipped 3D technology with monitors connected to advanced media players to enhance the teaching experience. These lectures are recorded which indeed serves a great help.
WUB serves with well-equipped laboratories, medical libraries, well-furnished classrooms, patient examination room, computer stations and the best quality food. WUB seeks to provide a safe and secure environment to the students, faculty as well as the staff members, the reason it has security personnel 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Student Learning

Working with students to create diverse learning opportunities
The Department of Service Learning & Community Affairs serves as the primary administrative link between the community and WUB’s physicians-in-training. Consistent with the University’s desire to produce

physicians with a lifelong commitment to community service, the department serves the following functions:

Assists the wide variety of extracurricular student organizations in developing service learning projects which directly address the health needs of Barbadian.

Student Service Center CAFETERIA

WUB provides a cafeteria to serve the students and faculty. In this cafeteria, meal is served three times daily (times). In the event of any sickness, kindly alert the Administration Department, within 24 hours.

Library

The in-house Library is a treasure house of knowledge with its hundred volumes of worthy, reputed books and journals. The university has access to online journals and multimedia sources to develop each and every aspirant to their full potential.
The medical school library provides access to network resources such as walk-up computers, printers, software and internet for academic purposes related to the study and practice of medicine.

Counsellor

As a growing University, we believe in having transparency that we learn from each other. Therefore, we ask that you utilize that Complaints Committee for the SGA. In the event of a personal issue then we ask that you bring to the attention of the Student Counsellor. The advisor, teacher system is in place to provide support for a student’s school life and can suggest problem-solving strategies for any situation.

We enroll three new classes each year in September, January, and May, and accept applications year-round. Review our admissions requirements.
What You’ll Need to Apply
You will need to complete or submit the following items to be admitted to WUB:
Completed application: Complete the online application to WUB. There is no fee to submit the application.
Personal statement: Provide a personal statement no longer than 750 words concerning your medical career expectations. WUBAS (Washington University of Barbados Application Service) personal statements will also be accepted.

History

Chronological listing of educational, employment, and volunteer experience dating back to high school.

Official transcripts

Official transcripts must be sent to WUB, directly from the college registrar in an official sealed envelope. For foreign schools, notarized copies of the original transcripts may be directed to WUB when official transcripts are not readily available. However, official transcripts must follow the notarized copies prior to matriculation. Please note that all foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a credentialing service that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). A listing of credentialing members can be found at www.naces.org

Official MCAT report

MCAT scores are required for medical school admission to WUB and must be taken within the last 5 years. Applicants must request the MCAT scores be sent directly from the testing agency to WUB’s Administrative Office. The code for WUB is 907.
Letters of Recommendation: Official letters from a Pre-Medical Advisory Committee are strongly recommended, however, we will accept a minimum of 1 letter from an individual academic professor who has taught the applicant (science preferable, but not required) and 1 professional letter. Additional letters of recommendation from professors or employers with details of previous medical experience will be accepted to further support the applicant’s candidacy to medical school. These letters must appear on original letterhead stationery and be directly sent from the individual offering the recommendation. Letters of recommendation are accepted through Interfolio and Virtual Evals.
We recommend that WUB applicants send in required items as they become available. For example, prospective applicants do not need to have received his or her MCAT score to start the application process. Also, please note that all documents sent to WUB become the property of WUB.
