Student life at Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS).

The Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), affiliated to Kathmandu University was set up at Pokhara in 1994 with an MBBS program. It was the first private institution to establish a medical college in Nepal. Further to this, the 750 bed Manipal Teaching Hospital (MTH), Pokhara commenced in 1998. The college and hospital have been set up with modern facilities for modern education and health delivery.

Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), Nepal provides a unique environment for students to pursue their dreams of a career in medicine with the added advantage of international exposure.
MCOMS has students from various countries including India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Singapore, Thailand, Middle East, Kenya, South Africa, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, and is therefore, a cross-cultural hub of activity.
About 55% of the students are men and 45% women. The faculty has been largely drawn from reputed institutions in India and Nepal. There are experienced teachers who strive to instill the right spirit and traditions.
Heads of Departments and Director Academics ensure all-round academic excellence, and all-round development of students. Fortnightly tests are conducted to measure the performance of the students and Dean’s counseling of each individual student is done at least once in a semester – reports of which are forwarded to their parents.
Students are also required to undergo additional 4 to 6 hours of self-study every day, 330 days in a year in an integrated fashion to ensure they perform well in their examinations.
