Kazan Federal University (KFU) is one of the oldest universities in Russian and was founded more than 200 years ago. It is the main educational centre of Tatarstan. Since 2009, it has held federal university status.

The university is noted for its academic schools in mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, and linguistics. Kazan Federal University is the second oldest university in the Russian Federation established in 1804. KFU is a brilliant imitation of a traditional university of basic knowledge and constant development. At present, in the university, more than 3,200 faculty members are employed and around 47,000 students are enrolled. KFU prioritize the research in the field of bio-medicine and pharmaceutics, oil extraction, oil refining and petro-chemistry, informational communication and aerospace technologies, advanced materials and social sciences, humanities and pedagogic technologies, often taking advantage of multifaceted approaches.

International Collaboration

Kazan University was directly connected to international academia. KFU has collaboration with approximately 190 universities and research centres from more than 53 countries all over the world. Due to its productive assistance with the enduring partners, KFU participatesin different research programs and executes double diploma programs and cotutelle agreements.
Through KFU more than 900 students and faculty members visit overseas universities and research centres annually for various rationales, including international conferences. At KFU, about 1500 experts from abroad are involved in various scientific events, development, and preamble of new courses, research alliance, and other international activity. Many native speaking specialists teach Chinese, Korean, Farsi, German, Spanish, English and other foreign languages on a regular basis at KFU. In the university, along with the honorary doctors and professors, there are many renowned scientists and Nobel Prize winners.
Every year KFU academic staff carry out on average 40 joint international projects and get individual support for research and study from DAAD, DFG, Volkswagen Foundation, NSF, European Commission (Tempus, FP7, Marie-Curie Actions, Erasmus-Mundus, etc.) and other grant-making organizations.
KFU carry out several big projects on Mega-grants received from the Russian Government in the framework of Resolution No.218 and 220 of the Government of the Russian Federation. From 2011, University implements a large-scale project “Pharma 2020- Development of pharmaceutical and medical industry till 2020 and following perspectives” funding within Federal Target Program of Russian Federation. Research and Education Center of Pharmaceutics was established providing interdisciplinary research for development and production of innovative drugs.
Currently, KFU students and academic staff enjoy wonderful opportunities of training at best European universities as part of both “Integration, Interaction and Institutions (Triple I)” and “Aurora”[ projects (Erasmus Mundus program). These projects often reach beyond the University, making it a centre of entirely new regional research and educational networks involved in international collaboration.
The Main Campus of Kazan Federal University located in Kazan is divided into 16 institutes, 3 higher schools, and two faculties. The university offers the majority of its programs in Russian. Prospective students who do not speak Russian are required to participate in a one-year language training course at KFU International Preparatory School. Teaching in English is provided for several programs throughout the university at specialist and master levels.

How to Apply

At KFU, achievement begins with the online application process and counselling with responsive admissions officers.
Postgraduate student will be provided with an individual support by a proficient supervisor allocated by the faculty or department whose role is to guide course curriculum or the research.

Tuition Fees and Scholarships

Annual tuition fee varies depending on the program chosen. Prices range from 74000 RUR for pre-university training up to 221900 RUR for some Ph.D. programs.
Kazan Federal University offers financial support or funding for national and international candidates aiming at post-graduate studies in KFU priority areas. Also, the Russian Government provides the scholarship for international students to study at Russian universities and the candidate can apply for it.

Accommodations

KFU is the only Russian institution having enough housing division to lodge all students who can opt from 26 comfortable dormitories.Applicants can live on or off campus. The university offers a variety of living facilities and comfortable apartments, including Universiade – 2013 Village dormitories with the capacity of 12000 living places. It includes a medical center, drugstore, sports equipment rent station, copy center, laundry, beauty salon, cafeteria and other facilities. As space is limited, aspirants need to apply in advance.
